SUMMARY:Workshop: Successful B2C Communication - Or is it just greenwashing?
DESCRIPTION:Many companies are working on their sustainability strategies with renewed purpose. They are driving innovation and moving forward in becoming carbon neutral\, delivering their sustainability goals\, investing in impact funds or participating in the circular economy. However\, to be successful businesses must communicate this effectively and simply to their consumers. \nMore than ever consumers are demanding companies to be sustainable. Accordingly\, more money is flowing to ‘green companies’. At the same time\, consumers are increasingly aware and skeptical of greenwashing. Oftentimes\, it is the companies\, especially smaller ones\, that do most or a lot for sustainability that are the least vocal about it. They can be overlooked compared to companies that communicate about their sustainability efforts openly and loudly. \nSo how should the former companies communicate successfully to their consumers? How do they grow their market share of the new sustainability-aware generation? \nThese three principles play a central role in achieving great B2C sustainability communication: \n\nCommunication must be understandable. What exactly is sustainable about the product or service?\nThe communication must show the added value. What personal benefit does the sustainability aspect bring?\nThe communication must be honest. Is what is promised really delivered in terms of sustainability?\n\nJoin our workshop on November 16th to hear how companies have succeeded in doing this. We will learn from Friederike Vinzenz who holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Media and Communication Science with a focus on sustainability communication. At RoomFor\, she advises institutions and companies in the field of sustainability communication and supports the implementation of complex goals and action plans by means of data analysis. \nWho is this workshop for? \nSustainability and communication professionals working in SMEs\, corporations and startups.

SUMMARY:Workshop: Five Steps to Engage your Employees with Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:Many companies are investing huge amounts in external messaging about sustainability without looking internally and bringing their own workforce on board. Nowadays\, your employees & co-workers are highly knowledgeable and expect more. Companies across the globe are evidencing employees leaving their jobs in search of more purpose\, inspiration\, alignment and authenticity. \nEmployees are increasingly committed to creating social and sustainable impact and are pushing their employers to follow suit. Genuinely sustainable companies will attract and retain the top talent. The rest will risk employees voting with their feet for an employer that gives them a sense of purpose. \nIn addition\, recent years have been a turbulent time for employees and corporations amidst the pandemic. Many employees are disengaging and struggling for work-life balance. \nEngaging your employees on the topic of sustainability should therefore be a top priority for any company. The good news is that it is easier than what you might think! \nYears of working with companies across the globe have shown the two founders of BELIEVE Partners\, Rebecca Berlinger and Natascha Lander\, that many companies find it challenging to inspire\, motivate and empower their employees on sustainability issues. Both Natascha and Rebecca have over 20 years of experience supporting companies to overcome their challenges and implement the right solutions – and this workshop will deep dive into some of those solutions that can be deployed across all organisations. \nMore about BELIEVE and the two founders: \nRebecca has spent over 20 years working in the finance industry in London\, New York and Zurich\, leading and managing projects for clients around the globe at PwC. She focused on finding solutions in the areas of operations\, finance and compliance\, and working with clients to implement new legislation and regulations in alignment to their long term business goals. \nNatascha has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry in London\, Paris and Zurich in various roles. She built and led the Global Visionaries Programme at UBS focused on empowering social enterprises tackling the Sustainable Development Goals and in her role at UBS Natascha regularly led sessions with clients on topics related to sustainability and impact across the globe. \nTicket pricing: In order to cover our costs\, we are unable to provide completely free entry for members and partners\, however we are pleased to offer a significant discount on the general admission price.

SUMMARY:Thematic Event: Digitalisation - Climate Killer or Climate Protector?
DESCRIPTION:Technology will continue to transform our lives\, and the growth of businesses will depend upon it. Digitalisation has seen a huge jump triggered by the Covid crisis. Millions of businesses around the world have transformed and digitized at a hyper pace. But where there’s light there’s usually dark\, too. So what are the good and the bad sides of this megatrend? \nAs digitalisation is developing rapidly\, so is the demand for energy and valuable resources. The power for our smartphones\, streaming services and social networks has so far mainly come from fossil fuels. Some estimate that in just a few years\, the digital industry will cause more carbon emissions worldwide than all motorised traffic. In fact\, it already accounts for 4% of global carbon emissions. \nBut technology doesn’t have to be a climate killer. It can also be used as a force for good\, and digitalisation can substantially help in promoting climate change mitigation. For example\, digital solutions enable the shared economy\, help curb emissions that would otherwise happen through business trips or make agricultural practices more efficient and sustainable. \nSo on the occasion of Digital Day Switzerland 2021\, we are asking how digitalisation can be a force for good\, a driver for innovation\, and go hand in hand with sustainability instead of harming the environment. \nWe will hear from industry leaders and sustainably-oriented entrepreneurs who are all working towards making Switzerland a notable digital innovation hub.
