SUMMARY:Data With Purpose
DESCRIPTION:This was the first event of Climate Week Zurich. Together with leaders from the digital\, sustainability\, and policy sectors\, we’ll explore how data can drive climate action and system transformation. \nFind out more here regarding the wide-reaching Vision for the first Climate Week Zurich in May 2026. \nIn today’s world\, data underpins every industry. When used with purpose\, it has the potential to accelerate sustainable progress\, mitigate climate risks\, and build a more resilient future. This event shines a light on cutting-edge innovations and solutions harnessing the power of data for good. \nOn one hand\, the data industry itself must evolve – optimizing efficiency in data centers\, integrating renewables\, and decarbonizing digital services. At the same time\, big data offers immense potential for climate action\, from urban planning and geo-observation\, to predictive maintenance and sustainable agriculture\, and more. \n\n\nThis was an afternoon & evening of keynotes\, panels\, and interactive discussions\, where cross-industry international experts will share the latest advancements and insights into data-driven sustainability. \nKey topics: \n\nData & Technology\nData & CDR\nData\, Nature\, & Sustainable Finance\n\nKey questions we explored: \n\nWhat role does big data play in climate adaptation and resilience?\nHow can AI and predictive analytics drive more effective sustainability strategies?\nWhat are the challenges and considerations in using big data for climate solutions?\nHow can businesses and policymakers collaborate to unlock the full potential of data for sustainability?

SUMMARY:From Crisis to Resilience: Financial Strategies for Sustainable Economic Empowerment
DESCRIPTION:Traditional aid programmes often fall short in addressing the long-term economic challenges faced by vulnerable communities. How can we move beyond short-term relief to financial strategies that empower individuals and foster lasting economic stability? \nGreenBuzz\, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and responsAbility\, brought together experts to discuss financial approaches that enhance resilience and self-sufficiency and foster long-term economic security. \nThis event examined how the private sector and the development and humanitarian sector can support both crisis preparedness and long-term economic empowerment. By bridging gaps and leveraging the comparative strengths of both worlds\, we can create sustainable opportunities that strengthen local economies and reduce dependency on external support. \nWhy This Matters \nMillions of people remain financially vulnerable\, while traditional funding structures often prioritize short-term needs over long-term solutions. At the same time\, economic\, environmental\, and geopolitical crises are becoming more frequent and prolonged\, putting additional pressure on already weak financial systems. \nBy shifting the focus to inclusive financial models\, risk mitigation\, and local investment\, we can enable communities to take control of their financial futures. The financial sector\, development organizations\, and investors have a unique opportunity to reshape how capital flows into underserved economies\, fostering self-sustaining and resilient communities. \n\n\nKey Discussion Areas \n\nPathways to Economic Self-Sufficiency – How can inclusive financial tools drive long-term economic stability?\nDisaster Risk Financing & Climate Resilience – How can financial instruments help communities prepare for and recover from climate-related shocks?\nInvesting in Local Economies – What role can private investment and innovative financial models play in empowering local businesses and entrepreneurs?\nShifting the Financial Paradigm – How can we move from donor-dependent models to scalable\, locally led financial systems that foster the long-term economic security of vulnerable populations?

SUMMARY:Book Reading: Science in Resistance with Fernando Racimo (part of Films For Future)
DESCRIPTION:Around the world\, scientists are engaging in climate justice and species protection beyond their labs and academic positions. In April 2022\, hundreds of them in 30 countries blocked government buildings\, glued themselves to streets\, and chained themselves to the fences in front of the White House. \nFernando Racimo\, evolutionary researcher and professor at the University of Copenhagen\, collects first-hand accounts of scientists’ civil disobedience in his book. He combines personal stories with interviews from frontline activists\, offering insights into the world of research and resistance\, and examining the challenges academics faced after their uprising. \nThe author also reflects on his own role in the movement and the path that led him to become a scientist-activist. \nThe reading (in English) was a call to view science as an active force for societal change. \n\n\nAbout “films for future“: The film festival aims to raise public awareness of environmental and sustainability issues. Over 50 films\, including premieres and international productions\, were shown in November 2022 and 2023 as well as at around 160 events. The events take place in various cinemas and locations in Zurich\, some of them with panel discussions with speakers. A total of 13\,255 people attended the events in 2022 and 2023\, many of which were sold out.

SUMMARY:Unlocking Inner Capacities for Climate Action
DESCRIPTION:In early March\, GreenBuzz\, together with the IDG Switzerland – Climate Week Zurich Network\, hosted an experiential IDG Lab as a pre-event for Climate Week Zurich contributors. \nThe workshop invited participants to explore how inner capacities such as presence\, sense-making\, trust\, and collaboration can strengthen climate-related dialogue\, decision-making\, and participation. Through interactive exercises and guided exchanges\, participants engaged with simple IDG micro-practices and reflected on how these could be integrated into their own Climate Week Zurich sessions. \nBy bringing together CWZ partners and contributors ahead of the week\, the lab helped strengthen connections and support the design of events that foster deeper engagement\, collaboration\, and collective impact. \nThank you to everyone who joined and contributed to this inspiring exchange.

SUMMARY:Mastering Sustainability with AI: From Data to Product Impact
DESCRIPTION:On March 31st\, GreenBuzz\, together with Siemens and Makersite\, hosted the first session of the Masterclass Series 2026: From Insight to Impact\, titled “Mastering Sustainability with AI: From Data to Product Impact”\, at The Dome\, Siemens Switzerland in Zurich. \nThe session invited participants to explore how artificial intelligence\, combined with structured and connected data\, can enable more transparent and scalable sustainability decision-making at product level. Through expert inputs and interactive breakout sessions\, participants engaged with real-world applications of AI in product lifecycle management\, carbon footprint analysis\, and circular design\, reflecting on how these approaches can be integrated into their own organizations. \nAs part of a year-long series designed for open dialogue\, peer exchange\, and hands-on learning\, the Masterclass created a space to collectively explore how sustainability can move from insight to concrete impact in complex organizational contexts. \nThank you to everyone who joined and contributed to this inspiring exchange.
